The public is invited to the annual Urbanna Independence Day-theme celebration on Friday, July 1, at the Urbanna Town Marina on Urbanna Creek. There will be a boat parade, music, food, and fireworks. The rain date is Tuesday, July 5.

The activities begin at the marina at 5 p.m.

The annual boat parade begins with participants gathering at the Beryl R. Newman Memorial Bridge (nicknamed “Urbanna bridge”) at 7 p.m. They will then parade past the marina and the judges stand at 7:30 p.m.

Applications for the boat parade are available at the town office and town marina. For information, call the town marina at 804-758-5440 or the town office at 804-758-2613.

Fireworks will fill the sky shortly after dusk around 9 p.m., depending on weather conditions. “Pearl,” Urbanna’s trolley-style mini bus, will run for free until 10 p.m.

Starting at 5 p.m. on July 1, Virginia Street will be closed to vehicles from Cross Street to the town marina…
