Urbanna expansion proposed

Officials want to add 20 acres

by Tom Chillemi –

The Town of Urbanna could get a little bigger if a plan to expand its western boundary is approved.

On June 9, the Urbanna Town Council voted to begin the process of having the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors approve a “land boundary adjustment” that would add about 20 acres to the town.

With very little discussion and no opposition, council approved the motion to have the town staff prepare a presentation and formally approach the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors with the proposed boundary adjustment.

The supervisors next meeting is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the historic Middlesex Courthouse in Saluda. (It is a week later than usual due to the Independence Day holiday.)
