CCS All-State athletes named

Christchurch School (CCS) students earning All-State athletic recognition this spring include three local students.

Earning VISAA Division II All-State First Team honors in soccer are Tess Bennett, class of 2023 (Washington, D.C.), and local students Taylor Berry, class of 2022, daughter of Lauren and Jonathan Berry of Saluda, and Cecelia Jablonsky, class of 2025, daughter of Doug and Karen Jablonsky of White Stone. The team, coached by Matt Schaefer, finished the regular season ranked No. 2 in its division, and played Highland School (Warrenton) in the VISAA Division II State Championship at Glover Park in Richmond. The Seahorses held the No. 1-ranked Hawks to a scoreless game and overtime, ultimately losing 3-2 in penalty kicks.

Earning VISAA Division I All-State Second Team honors in lacrosse are Luke Robinson, class of 2024 (Whitby, Canada) and Jackson Gill, class of 2022 (Ontario, Canada). The team, coached by John Dehm and Evan Pausic, class of 2017, made it to the VISAA Division I state playoffs.

CCS Golf Captain Pierce Lambert, class of 2022, son of Buzz and Robin Lambert of Hartfield, placed second in the VISAA Division II State Championship at Meadowbrook Country Club in Richmond. Pierce posted a score of 71, just one stroke behind the winner. Pierce’s score included three birdies. There were 40 players in the Division II flight. Tim Roscher is the golf coach, and the team’s home course is Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield.
