William Kermit (Bill) Muse Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
He is survived by his partner of 18 years, Carolyn Jennings Moss; his son, William Todd Muse (Chrissy); two grandchildren, Desmond Liam Muse and Sloane Alice Muse; a niece, Charlotte Muse Mashburn (Fred), their son Christopher Scott Mashburn; and his nephew David Lindsey Muse.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Kermit Muse Sr. and Gladys Gordon Muse, as well as his brother, Gordon Lindsey Muse.
Bill was born in Norfolk and was raised in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C., where his father served in the U.S. Navy. After moving to Richmond, he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959, Chowan Junior College in 1963, and Lynchburg College in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, then later as a special agent in the U.S. Secret Service. Most of his professional career was as a GM Dealer and part owner of Muse Buick Inc. (along with his father and brother). Upon the sale of their dealership, he split his time between Richmond and his river house in Topping. He became an early member of the White Stone Church of the Nazarene (WSCON) and enjoyed the many friends made in his Sunday school class. He enjoyed staying busy with various projects at his properties, navigating the Rappahannock River, studying history, and spending time with his son, his grandchildren, and his beloved Carolyn.
A service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at WSCON, followed by a private burial next to his mother at Hollywood Cemetery.
