The Colonial Seaport Foundation, the Mathews Outdoor Club and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Mathews Flotilla 66, are teaming up to offer an introductory “Sailing Skills and Seamanship” class, Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The class will be the first step in the certification of prospective Luna crew members. The only pre-requisite is completion of a state or National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) safe-boating course. This class will be limited to 12 students and is intended for both the general public and those interested in joining Luna as crew.
There is no charge for the course and a textbook “Sailing Skills and Seamanship,” will be offered at cost ($25) but is not required. Those students who are preregistered will receive a certificate on completion of the course.
Registration can be completed online.
For information about the course, email Flotilla 66 Public Education Staff Officer Mike Moore at Mikemoore.cgaux@gmail.com.
