MHS track boys finish fourth at Region A meet

Middlesex track girls finish 12th

The Middlesex High School (MHS) boys track team finished fourth as a team in the 2022 Region A track meet on Thursday, May 26, at Charles City High School.

Lancaster won the meet by scoring 138 points; West Point, second, 115; Northumberland, third, 92; Middlesex, fourth, 50; Mathews, fifth, 44; Rappahannock, sixth, 40; Northampton, seventh, 31; Chincoteague, eighth, 9; King and Queen Central, ninth, 3; Essex, 10th, 2; and Washington & Lee, 11th, 1 point.

The Chargers were paced by Connor Bishop, who won the pole vault with a 8’9” jump and Jaquan Griffin who won the triple jump with a career best jump of 43’. Griffin’s best jump for the season had been 39’9”. The jump qualified him for the State 1A track meet.

Girls results

The Lady Chargers finished 12th as a team with 9 points. Lancaster won the team competition with 106 points; King and Queen Central, second, 72; West Point, third, 66; Northampton, fourth, 51; Northumberland, fifth, 50; Mathews, sixth, 45; Charles City, seventh, 32; Chincoteague, eighth, 26; Rapphannock, ninth, 25; Essex, 10th, 20; Washington & Lee, 11th, 16.

Dominae Ivery paced the Lady Chargers with a second place finish in the high jump (4’8”), which met the state 1A qualifying standard. Ivery also picked up a point for MHS in long jump (14’2”) with a sixth place finish.
