MHS tennis girls advancing far

The Middlesex High School (MHS) girls tennis team captured runner-up honors after falling to Rappahannock 5-1 last week in the Class 1 Region A Regional Team Tennis Finals. The matches were Thursday, May 26, at Rappahannock.

In singles action, Middlesex’s Maddie Green defeated her Panther girl opponent, 6-0, 6-4. However, the other Charger girls all came out on the losing end in their matches.

Middlesex 5, Mathews 2

The Charger girls also played the previous day, Wednesday, May 25, defeating Mathews 5-2.

Action this week

Maddie Green played in the Region 1A Individual Singles Tournament in Mathews on Tuesday, May 31, and the Maddie Green-Virginia Reinhardt duo played in the Region 1A Doubles Tournament in Mathews on Wednesday, June 1. Results from the May 31 and June 1 action were unavailable at press time.

The Middlesex girls tennis team also has advanced to the state quarterfinals and will play the Region B Champions on Friday, June 3. Opponents, time and location are yet to be determined.
