Jubal, others to play at Ukraine fundraiser

Popular Middle Peninsula Christian band Jubal — performing here during the Urbanna Memorial Day program Monday — includes Charles Dunlevy, left, and Sandra Dize. Little has been spared in Ukraine. Houses, apartments, churches and hospitals have been bombed and damaged by Russian troops. Many are horrified by what is seen on TVs or through social media. Cities are destroyed, lives are upended and lives have been lost.

Understandably, it feels as though little can be done from one’s home in the United States, but it is possible to do something and make a difference in the lives of the Ukrainian people.

One way is to join the community for a free benefit concert set for 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, in the sanctuary of Urbanna United Methodist Church at 221 Marston Ave. in Urbanna. The concert will feature three local bands with wide appeal.

  • Middle Peninsula-based Christian band Jubal, a praise and worship group, will perform.
  • Middlesex County native George Robinson sings gospel, contemporary, country and soul music and has been entertaining people for 65 years. Accompanying Robinson will be his Gospel Robins group.
  • Urbanna resident Beth Justice, who has been professionally playing music for 37 years, will be on-hand to sing. She is the band leader and lead vocalist for the popular classic rock band Sweet Justice.

The concert is free to all and donations will be welcomed. One-hundred percent of the donations will go to three charities that are supporting the Ukrainian people.
