The town of Urbanna will present its annual community Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 30, at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the Urbanna Town Marina at 210 Oyster Road in Urbanna. Middlesex County American Legion Post 241 Commander William Bagby will present the colors.
The invocation will be given by the Rev. Eddie Heath of Urbanna Baptist Church.
Lorelle Perry of Hermitage Baptist Church in Church View will sing “America the Beautiful.”
Commander Bagby will lay a memorial wreath.
Wyatt B. Durrette Jr. will be the keynote speaker and deliver his thoughts on “Why We Should Never Forget.” A Richmond attorney, Durrette is a retired U.S. Air Force captain, who served three terms in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Urbanna Mayor Barbara Hartley will make a proclamation for a “Day of Prayer.”
A benediction by the Rev. Heath will close out the event.
