Ten cases of COVID-19 hit Middlesex schools

by Larry Chowning –

The Middlesex County Public Schools (MCPS) system has seen a rise in COVID-19 cases as MCPS superintendent Tracey Seitz reported 10 cases associated with the schools last week.

There were no individuals required to quarantine because Virginia Department of Health no longer requires contact tracing of the virus, said Dr. Seitz this week in a telephone interview.

In keeping with MCPS policy, the superintendent did not say whether those testing positive for COVID-19 were staff members or students or both.

She also did not say which MCPS school or schools these individuals were associated with.

School officials must abide by privacy standards and because the schools population is small, officials do not give out locations.
