CCS Seahorse girls soccer squad boasts five MC players

The Christchurch School (CCS) girls soccer team finished the regular season ranked No. 2 in the state for the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II.
The CCS Seahorse squad boasts five girls from Middlesex County, in alphabetical order:

  • Taylor Berry, daughter of Lauren and Jonathan Berry of Saluda.
  • Izzy Kiland, daughter of Kristin and Ing Kiland ‘92 of Christchurch.
  • Fiona Shaw, daughter of Donna Armento of Deltaville.
  • Abigail Smiley, daughter of Mollie Brumfield of Urbanna and Will Smiley of Kilmarnock.
  • Hali Valadez, daughter of Gidget and David Valadez of Urbanna.
  • The CCS Seahorse girls hosted the second round of the state playoffs on Wednesday, May 18, defeating Eastern Mennonite 3-1, according to MaxPreps.com.

The team’s head coach is Matt Schaefer, and the assistant coach is Aaron Alter.
