Courtney Harrow is participating in the 2022 Urbanna Oyster Festival Scholarship Competition with her “Little Miss Spat” Kayleigh Carias. They are coordinating a 5K run/walk event on May 21, which begins at the Middlesex High School track in Saluda and goes through the surrounding areas.
Registration is set for 7-7:45 a.m. at the track on the day of the race. The first 20 youth to sign up for the fun run will receive a Chick-fil-A gift card for a chicken sandwich or nuggets. They are raising money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Courtney’s grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2016 and she wants to help raise money for a cure, so others don’t have to go through what she or her family did.
The race entrance fee is donation only and all profits go towards the association. The children’s half-mile fun run will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. The top three finishers of each age group competing in the 5K (3.1-mile) race will receive a medal.
