Middlesex’s No. 1 player Maddie Green still undefeated

Middlesex High School’s varsity girls tennis team captured the Tidewater District championship with its 8-1 Monday, May 9, away defeat of rival Mathews. The Charger girls overall record was 9-1 at press time.
In singles action, Middlesex’s No. 1 player, Maddie Green blanked her Blue Devil girl opponent 6-0 and remains undefeated with a 10-0 record. Other Middlesex singles winners include Virginia Reinhardt, 6-1, 6-3; Hailey Bruce, 6-4, 6-3; Meeha Ferris, 6-4, 6-2; and Zikirah Morris, 6-3, 6-0. Charger girl Addy Heasley was defeated, 1-6, 2-6.
In doubles action, Middlesex’s No. 1 duo, Green-Reinhardt blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 and remain undefeated with a 10-0 record. Other Middlesex doubles winners include Bruce-Heasley, 6-3, 7-6 (with a score of 7-4 in a set tiebreaker); and Ferris-Morris, 8-6.
The Charger girls took on Rappahannock at home Wednesday, May 11 — results were unavailable at press time. Their match the previous Wednesday versus Northumberland was canceled/postponed due to windy, wet weather.
