More than 12 million people are believed to have fled their homes in Ukraine since the conflict with Russia began, according to the United Nations. The Ukrainians need help and Middlesex County residents can do their part.

Immanuel Baptist Church in Saluda will celebrate its annual Women’s Day, Sunday, May 15, at 11 a.m.
Minister Dr. Yinoris Wright, the first lady and associate pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, will deliver the Preached Word. Former First Lady Sister Wah Wah Rideau will serve as worship leader. All women attending are asked to wear pastel colors and hats, if they so desire.
Following the service, authors Margaret L. and Harvey Mears will sign their book “Invested Prayers.” Dinner will be provided and served by The Immanuel Men.
The church is continuing to observe COVID-19 protocols and requires that participants practice social distancing, wear masks and use sanitizer.
Mount Zion Baptist Church of Church View will be reconvening in the church sanctuary May 8 (Mother’s Day) beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service beginning at 11 a.m.

Due to the rainy weather on Saturday, Harmony Grove Baptist Church postponed its crafts fair until this Saturday, May 14, with a rain date of May 21. The fair will be offered outdoors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of the church, which is located in Harmony Village at the intersection of Routes 3 and 33 at the stoplight.
Organizers encourage the community to come, to see, and purchase crafts made by local artists.

Admission is free, but love offerings will be accepted to help rebuild New Hope Memorial Baptist Church in Shacklefords, one of three area churches destroyed last year in unexplained fires.

Urbanna United Methodist Church (UUMC) at 221 Marston Ave. (at Cross Street) will move to outdoor worship for now beginning 11 a.m. this Sunday, May 15.
“We will meet in the church prayer garden or under the large shade tree, depending on the heat,” the Rev. Bruce Johnson, UUMC pastor, told the Sentinel. “In the event of rain we will move back indoors. All are welcome to join us.”

The women of Make-A-Way and Deliverance Full Gospel Baptist Church and the members of Women of Worth (W.O.W.) will host their annual woman’s weekend event Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15.
At 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, they will have a Tea Party event. Ladies are encouraged to come out and wear their prettiest Sunday dress with their best hat, scarf and gloves to the “tea.” Ladies participating can enjoy a variety of flavors of teas, along with finger sandwiches and a variety of desserts. The morning speaker will be Minister Vashti Curtis Woods.
At 11 a.m. Sunday, May 15, the woman’s weekend continues. The morning speaker will be none other than Dr. Prophet Edna Ransom. Then, at 3 p.m., it will be Minister Rose Mason.

Make-A-Way and Deliverance Full Gospel Baptist Church’s 23rd church anniversary event is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22. The afternoon guest pastor bringing God’s Word will be Pastor Steven Burrell from Gleaning Baptist Church in Gloucester.
