Support complex fundraiser

“Pathways To Success” is a program sponsored by the Middlesex County Sports Complex Committee to help financially support the complex. At the entrance to the complex is a walkway of engraved bricks laid to honor or memorialize loved ones or those special in life. A brick costs $150 for a family or individual and $200 for an organization or business. The Miller children in the photo above stopped while bicycling recently to check out a brick honored for them. The brick reads “Miller Kids, Baylen, Benton and Cayden.” (Courtesy of Jackie Taylor)

There’s nothing more exciting than youth sports and nothing better for Middlesex County than people playing sports. The Middlesex County Sports Complex in Locust Hill is an integral part of teaching children the importance of athletics and sportsmanship. Families come from all across the county to participate in baseball, softball, T-ball and soccer.

In 2002, the Middlesex County Sports Complex Commission began a fundraising campaign that would allow the complex to grow the sports program. The campaign was called “Build a Pathway to Success.” A pathway has been built around the flagpole and concession stand with engraved bricks. There are currently more than 300 engraved bricks installed.

Bricks may be purchased and engraved with up to three lines and a maximum of 13 characters per line. The cost of a brick is $150 for family/individual and $200 for organization/business. Checks should be made payable to Middlesex County Sports Complex and are tax deductible. Bricks can be purchased to honor a family or family member, favorite teacher/coach, mentor, local sports hero, in memory of a loved one, or a milestone in one’s life.

Anyone interested in purchasing a brick can call Jackie Duke Taylor at 804-435-1636 or submit a form with a check made payable to Middlesex County Sports Complex and mail to Jackie Duke Taylor at 1303 General Puller Highway, Saluda, VA 23149.
