Urbanna is planning a special way to salute those who have served or are serving in the U.S. military.

The “Hometown Heroes Banner Program” will serve as a tribute to military service men and women who are either from Urbanna or are friends or family of Urbanna residents, explained Town of Urbanna Treasurer Michelle Hutton at the March 10 town council meeting.

Hutton said banners will be displayed on lamp posts on Virginia Street and Cross Street. Each individual banner will honor a specific service man or woman and will include his or her picture, branch of service, and era of service. Sponsors who may be friends, families, or businesses will pay for the Hometown Heroes Banners, which will cost $100.

Applications are available at the Town of Urbanna office at 390 Virginia St., Suite B.
Applications will be accepted until Friday, May 13, and will only be processed with a fully completed application, photo, and a check or money order payable to the Town of Urbanna.

For information call Hutton at 804-758-2613 or email her at m.hutton@urbannava.gov.
