The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) voted on Tuesday, March 1, to purchase 5.43 acres on General Puller Highway (Route 33) between Saluda and Cooks Corner for $93,000.

The land joins a 30-acre tract of land that was purchased by supervisors in 2006 to be used to build a sewage treatment plant for the village of Saluda to discharge into Urbanna Creek.

Recently, supervisors agreed to partner with Hampton Roads Sanitation District to build a main sewer line on Route 33 that will carry Middlesex sewage to Mathews County and to a regional sewage treatment plant in Yorktown. This plant will allow the Urbanna Sewage treatment plant and the MPRSC plant to be shutdown.
