Satan has been using the same playbook to turn God-fearing believers away from God for millennia. The tactics that the devil used on Daniel and three of his friends, 2,600 years ago, are the same tactics the devil uses on us today. According to 2 Corinthians 11:14, “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
Satan oftentimes seeks to, subtly and slowly, lead Christians away from the Lord without us even realizing it. That is the same way that he attacked Daniel and his friends — who were part of a group of Hebrews, brought captive to Babylon, by King Nebuchadnezzar.
King Nebuchadnezzar ordered that the Hebrew men’s names be changed to names reflecting allegiance to Babylonian gods. Whether or not the young men answered to their new names is not the issue…it is that they remembered that they were God’s people. God enables us to stand firm in our faith, in that, if we are believers in Jesus, we are children of the King…
