Only single citizen sounds off at hearing on proposed budget

The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) had only two people from the public in the audience and only one spoke at a public hearing Monday at St. Clare Walker Middle School (SCW) in Locust Hill on a proposed FY23, $19,823,369 budget.

Only three members of the school board attended the meeting. School board members, Pinetop District rep Garland Harrow and Hartfield District rep Jenny McMurtrie were not in attendance.

Board Chairman Claudia Soucek spoke on the $1 million-plus that is reflected in the capital improvement project portion of the FY23 budget that the school system has either received or going to receive from private grants and federal COVID-19 funds.
