MHS hoop boys are runners-up in Tidewater Dist.

MHS has a five-game winning streak and is ranked second in Tidewater District standings behind the West Point Pointers (16-5, 11-1).

MHS traveled to Northampton High School Monday, Feb. 21 and defeated the Eastern Shore District champs, 62-54, to move forward in the Region A basketball tournament.

Against Mathews on Feb. 16, the Chargers did not have their big man Malachi Dandy but still beat the Blue Devils, 67-56. Michael Hammond scored 24 points and Montreal Oakley had 23 points to pace the Chargers.

Jaden Kidd contributed 10 points; Camren Hammond and Jaquan Griffin each had 4 points each; and Peyton Lambert scored 2 points in the game.

Against Carver Academy in the 68-43 MHS win on Feb. 17, M. Hammond and Malachi Dandy paced MHS with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Oakley and Cameron Bunns added 10 points apiece. Jaden Kidd contributed 8 points and C. Hammond and Jakim Lomax had 2 points each.
