Byers, Wilson medal for MHS at state meet

Middlesex wrestling team finishes 12th at state championships

The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger wrestling team had two grapplers to medal in the Virginia 1A state championship meet in Salem Friday as Thomas Wilson and Cameron Byers each finished in sixth place.

Wilson finished sixth in the 120-pound class winning two matches and losing two. Byers finished sixth in the heavyweight class winning three of his matches and losing two.

“We had a great meet and five of the seven members of the team who qualified will be coming back next year,” said MHS Head Coach Joel Anderson. “We have a good future for next year.
