A controversial pier at the end of Virginia Street is back on the agenda for the Urbanna Town Council when it meets, Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at the new “town hall” at 390 Virginia St.
This week, the Urbanna Planning Commission sent to the town council a “request” that council fund a proposed pier at the end of Virginia Street. Council appears divided on the controversial pier and bulkhead. A Jan. 10 estimate from Docks of the Bay marine construction is for $65,000. It includes a stationary pier and floating pier.
A public hearing on the pier had been advertised by the town council for Jan. 27, but was canceled. This week’s meeting agenda lists a public comment period — usually up to three minutes per person — before council’s discussion…
