Special yoga workshop set for Jan. 30 at Northern Neck YMCA

Proceeds go to fund scholarships for economically disadvantaged to participate in Northern Neck YMCA’s many great programs

Susan Johnson of InsideOut Yoga will be co-leading a core workshop with retired physical therapist Ginger Houck at 9:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Northern Neck Family YMCA in Kilmarnock. The cost of the workshop is $40 and partial proceeds benefit the Guardian Program, which provides scholarships so that everyone has the opportunity to belong to the Northern Neck Family YMCA — regardless of their ability to pay the full price.

“If there’s one thing Ginger and I have learned in our yoga and PT practices, it’s that core is everything,” said Johnson. “In this workshop, you’ll learn how, why and when to engage your core muscles as well as ways to keep your low back healthy and happy. It’s open to adults of all ages and no experience is necessary.”

“I can’t think of a better complement to a yoga workshop than to have a physical therapist incorporated into the class,” said Marlene Walker, who also teaches yoga at the Northern Neck Y. “Ginger’s humor, knowledge and ability to work in tandem with Susan so gracefully makes these workshops a big success.”

Space is limited and advance registration is required, said Johnson. To register, visit insideoutyoga.org or email Johnson at insideoutyoga@va.metrocast.net or call Johnson at 804-436-2204.
