The Middlesex High School (MHS) junior varsity basketball team defeated the West Point Pointers, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 41-25, in the John Clements Memorial Gymnasium in Saluda.
At the MHS guard position Nathan Powell contributed 8 points and kept the West Point full court defense at bay. Powell showed off an effective jump shot that kept the Pointer defense on its toes.
Powell and Lambert aided by others were able to break the West Point pressure defense and get the ball down the court to play the team’s offense.
Middlesex led the game the entire way scoring 10 points in the first quarter; 9, second quarter; 6, third quarter; and Lambert and Silva paced a 16-point fourth quarter.
The JV Chargers were scheduled to host King William Tuesday, Jan. 18; and travel to Carver, Friday, Jan. 21. At the game Tuesday night MHS Athletic Director Matt Stamm said everything is tentative now as COVID-19 is impacting scheduling.
