The light of the full moon and the warm glow from pit fires in the fenced field behind the Urbanna firehouse on Friday, Dec. 17, enhanced the beautiful kick-off event of a new Middlesex community youth group for students in grades six through 12. The event was the first of planned monthly activities and fun gatherings to provide youth in Middlesex County with new friendships, mentoring, and Christian values.

During the evening, the youth voted to name the new youth group “Celebrate Light.” All received Christmas wristbands that said “Keep Christ in Christmas.” They gathered to talk with their friends, roasted hotdogs, and marshmallows over small fires, played corn hole and listened to the newly formed contemporary praise band named “One Headlight.” The band performed on the stage decorated for the season with bright gold garland, red and white Christmas lights, wreaths and Christmas tree. Band members included St. Clare Walker Middle School eighth grade students Vincent Wells on drums and Elijah Faine Clark on guitar. Band members from Middlesex High School (MHS) are freshman Abel Carter on bass, and junior Jayden Hogge on drums/percussion. They were accompanied by guitar player Pastor Aaron Wells of Pure Life Church located in Middlesex.
