This holiday season many motorists will not make it to their destination. A traffic crash will cut short their plans.
In his 27 years as a law enforcement office Major M.E. Sampson of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has seen too many crashes — the results of speeding, inattention and driving under the influence. Memories of injuries and even deaths remain with him after decades.
Middlesex Sheriff David Bushey is pleading with drivers to be especially careful during the holidays and not drive, even if you’ve had “just a few” drinks. Even a little alcohol impairs judgment and many think “I’m fine” after a few drinks, said Sheriff Bushey. But the decision to drive is influenced by the alcohol.
“Too many times we hear of holiday tragedies,” said Sheriff Bushey. “Let’s all do our part to make this a safe and happy time of the year.”
The sheriff’s office, like most law enforcement agencies, will be stepping up patrols during the holidays, said Sheriff Bushey.
