The joy of Christmas season comes in so many different packages. For Brenda Lomax of Locust Hill the season starts when pulling out holiday decorations, making sure all lights work and making her yard and home pretty for the holidays.
For 50 years, Lomax has faithfully provided a Christmas delight for those driving down Healy’s Road in Locust Hill. She has a yard full of reminders that it’s the Christmas season.
“I started decorating my yard for Christmas when I first moved here in the early 1970s and I’ve been adding to it ever since,” she said Friday standing in her yard.
“I enjoy doing it and the neighborhood has gotten so they expect to see my yard decorated,” she said. “It has become a Christmas tradition for them too. They stop and let me know that they appreciate it and it is just one way that I can give back something to the neighborhood.”
Christmas is a special time of the year, she said. “This is also a way I can bring a little joy for those driving down the road,” said Lomax.
Brenda Lomax’s real gift is her yearlong spirit of love and joy to those who know her — the Christmas spirit found in her yard is just the icing on the cake.
