Middlesex wrestlers defeat W&L and Northumberland at Dec. 7 meet
by Larry Chowning –
The Middlesex High School (MHS) wrestling team picked up two wins on Tuesday, Dec. 7, with victories over Northumberland and Washington & Lee (W&L) in a tri-meet in Heathsville at Northumberland High School.
The Chargers defeated Northumberland Indians, 66-6, and W&L Generals, 66-6, also. “Last night the MHS grapplers had a great meet at W&L and Northumberland,” said Head Coach Joel Anderson.
“Once again we had tremendous support by our parents and fans, which helped lead the way,” said Anderson. “It is great to be back on the mat and we have plenty of wrestling ahead of us.”
The Chargers competed Saturday in a Cosby High School Wrestling Tournament Invitational in Midlothian and will conduct a home meet on Thursday, Dec. 16, against Lancaster and Northampton. The home matches will start at 5 p.m. in John Clements Memorial Gymnasium at MHS.
