MHS basketball defeats Chincoteague, falls to Lancaster

The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity boys basketball team split last week with a 74-35 victory over Chincoteague on Friday, Dec. 3, and a 74-39 loss to a strong Lancaster team as the Red Devils crushed the Chargers, on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Lancaster dominated the game from tip-off, scoring 44 points in the first half. The Chargers had only 18 points in the half. The Red Devils scored in double figures in the first three quarters and had 9 points in the fourth quarter.

MHS exploded in the first half scoring 53 points with 24 in the first quarter and 29 in the second quarter. MHS Coach Benny Bagby emptied the bench in the second half so everyone got some playing time. The Chargers scored 15 points in the third quarter and 6 in the fourth quarter.
