Dorothy Marie Eckert Eades, 95, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, after a brief battle with leukemia, one month shy of her 96th birthday at the home of her daughter in Hayes.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1925 to Frank L. and Regina Beck Eckert.
Dorothy attended St. Elizabeth’s School and graduated from St. Patrick’s.
She married the love of her life, Charles Eades, in 1946 and they raised seven children together.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her husband, Charlie; daughters, Nancy E. Davis, and Cathy M. Eades; son, Richard G. Eades.
She is survived by her sons, Charles H. Jr. (Joan), Michael A. (Cathey), and Gregory J. (Jill); daughter, Robin E. Koch, (Michael); and a multitude of grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy retired from C&P Telephone Company of Virginia.
She enjoyed many years of river life with family and friends in their cottage on the Rappahannock River.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Timothy’s in Tappahannock and St. Thérèse in Gloucester.
Several years after Charlie passed away, she moved in with her daughter in Gloucester.
She was the last of the Greatest Generation in her family who taught them much about faith, family and love. Dorothy was a beautiful, gracious and kind woman. She will be greatly missed by all.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Bliley’s, 8510 Staples Mill Road, in Richmond. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Our Lady of Lourdes, 8200 Woodman Road, in Richmond, with visitation at church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
