After skipping all of last year’s season due to COVID-19, 28 wrestlers join this year’s Middlesex High School team

by Larry Chowning –

The Middlesex High School (MHS) wrestling team has a lot of new faces this season as the Chargers have only five wrestlers returning from the team two years ago and have lost to injury their top grappler. There was no season last year due to COVID-19.

“Since we didn’t have our season last year it is nice to see such interest in our sport with 28 grapplers out,” said Anderson. “I have no predictions for our season but it feels really good to see the kids excited about something again! It makes us coaches excited for them.”

The Middlesex wrestling team’s season opens 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at King William, with Colonial Beach also participating in the three-way match. The Chargers first home match is set for 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, when the team hosts Lancaster and Northumberland.
