Middlesex pet group is in need of volunteers

Middlesex Pet Friends For Life Volunteer Coordinator Maggie Gerdts, far left, accepts a slip of paper last month announcing a $60.34 donation from Shannon Wilson, 7, and Thomas Wilson, 4. The siblings mother, Katie Wilson, and the family’s rescue dog, Roscoe, watch. The donation represents half the proceeds from the children’s Urbanna lemonade stand. (The other half was earmarked for their piggy banks. However, since their endeavor was cut short by a thunderstorm, they robbed their piggy banks some to increase the donation.) A friend, Evan Cunningham, 3, also participated, but was unavailable for the photo. (Contributed)

by Cate Ogden –

Kitty Magnolia is in foster care while waiting for her forever home. She was found under a magnolia tree by a good Samaritan after a severe thunderstorm.

If you want to have the joy and laughter of watching the antics of these babies please call 776-8098 or email roc@va.metrocast.net.

Volunteers are also needed for all sorts of animal needs. The group of MPFL volunteers is asking for help with events such as farmers markets, festivals and various fundraisers.

Our next event is the annual yard sale set for Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the intersection of General Puller Highway (Route 33) and Twiggs Ferry Road (Route 3) between the Hartfield Fire Department and 7-Eleven convenience store. You can help by donating your unwanted things, by assisting with the sale or by stopping by to purchase a new found treasure.

Middlesex Pet Friends for Life is a nonprofit 501(C)3 organization and all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Monetary donations may be sent to P.O. Box 145, Saluda, VA 23149 or at http://middlesexpetfriends.wordpress.com. We ask that you choose MPFL as your charity when shopping on Amazon (Amazon Smile) as Amazon then donates .5% of your purchase…
