DMM cancels Seafood Fest and Scary Halloween

The Tom Euler Trio’s lead guitarist and vocalist, Tom Euler of Hartfield, swaps places with drummer Max Parker of Deltaville and lets Parker belt out a powerful tune (above) as Euler temporarily wields the drumsticks. Dancing to the trio (left) are Mead and Anne Usry of Hartfield. The fun came during an impromptu moment at Groovin’ in the Park 2021 season finale Saturday evening at Deltaville Maritime Museum. Board members cite high COVID-19 numbers in Middlesex

Due to concerns with the current COVID-19 numbers and, considering that the inside components of the events make it difficult to properly protect the public, the Board of the Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park have unanimously voted, in a special called meeting, to cancel their planned October events.

The two canceled events are the Oct. 16 Art and Seafood Festival and the Oct. 31 Scary Halloween in the Park.

“We really agonized over this decision, but, as entrenched in the community as we are, it is just as important that we concern ourselves with people’s health and safety as we concern ourselves with the planning and holding of community events,” reported a board spokesman. “Both of these events have fairly crowded indoor components and we did not feel comfortable with any of the possible protocols to screen and/or mask the folks attending,” the board member continued.

DMM has worked hard in 2021 to offer as many of our events as possible under COVID-19 guidelines and Kristen DeGraw, the staff and myself are working on the possible reimagining of the Nov. 27 Holiday Gift Market to make it happen safely
