Despite Seahorses’ twin Charlie Hatcher TDs and Pierre Johnson 2-point conversion, Christchurch football team falls to Blue Ridge’s Barons 41-14 at Dischinger Field

Christchurch School’s (CCS) football team took another step in restarting its football program following the COVID-19 shutdown. The Seahorses hosted Blue Ridge School Saturday afternoon and fell to the Barons 41-14.

The Seahorses’ first two games on the road were a test of resilience, facing strong, experienced teams at Nansemond Suffolk and Atlantic Shores, which both played last year. Coming home this week, the expectations from CCS coaches were for the team to take one more step forward. They hoped to put points on the board, and build more aggressive play up front. In that light, there was success. But there is work ahead.

Christchurch Head Coach Ed Homer is looking for more. “We did some things better, but we still need to increase our intensity and grit,” Coach Homer said. “So many kids are so new to high school football, it just takes time for them to get seasoned.”
