More COVID-19 cases associated  with schools, but infection rate lower

A weekly Middlesex County Public Schools (MCPS) report from Sept. 4-10 showed three new COVID-19 positive results associated with the schools and 21 individuals placed in quarantine, MCPS Superintendent Tracy Seitz told parents in a Sept. 10 email.

Since school started, this is the lowest weekly rate of confirmed positive cases in the schools. During the period of Aug. 26-30, there were seven positive cases and 48 people placed in quarantine and from Aug. 31-Sept. 3 there were seven positive cases and 25 people placed in quarantine.

“If it is after hours or on the weekend, please email your child’s administrators so that they can begin the contact tracing process.

If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms below, please do not send them to school:

  • Fever or chills. 
  • Cough. 
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. 
  • Fatigue. 
  • Muscle/body aches. 
  • Headache. 
  • New loss of taste or smell. 
  • Sore throat. 
  • Congestion or runny nose. 
  • Nausea or vomiting. 
  • Diarrhea 

“If you feel you or your child has been exposed to or diagnosed with COVID-19, please report this to our school administration immediately. This information will be kept confidential.
