Middlesex girls cross country runners encourage each other

While Middlesex High School (MHS) lacks enough girls cross country participants to field a full-fledged varsity team this season, it does have four strong runners that will compete as individual Chargers. These include returnees Kendall Lucas and Kayleigh St. John; and new this year, Lorelei Friedrich and Sophia Koontz. Also running with the MHS girls are five St. Clare Walker Middle School (SCW) girls, Carissa Kohel, Kaylyn Schultz, Ava Fomin, Kyla Blazek and Knenah Colbert. The MHS runners use 5K (3.1-mile) length courses, while the SCW ones just go two miles on the courses.

Jennifer Harrow, who returns to serve her eighth year as MHS girls cross country coach, said the runners have what it takes to go far. “They still have the opportunity to make it to states as an individual and I feel that each of them have that possibility,” Coach Harrow said.
