The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity Lady Charger volleyball team split a pair of matches last week, defeating Northumberland 3-0 but losing a five-game match to Chincoteague.

On Aug. 31, Middlesex’s confidence was evident as the Lady Chargers defeated visiting Northumberland in three sets — 25-23, 25-23 and 25-22. “We finally played with no fear and showed our true ability,” said Lady Charger Coach Brian Walton.

The Lady Chargers fell, 3-2, in five sets to the visiting Chincoteague High School Ponies on Thursday, Sept. 2, in the John Clements Memorial Gym at MHS.

The Lady Chargers host Lancaster on Monday, Sept. 13, and host King and Queen Central on Tuesday, Sept. 14. They travel to Mathews on Thursday, Sept. 16. Game times are 5:30 p.m. for the JV and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
