Let devil do his own work; refuse being his “hired help”

The Apostle Paul’s description of the full Armour of God is familiar to almost everyone, and there is ample study material available that teaches on the full Armour of God.

The Bible’s Ephesians 6:12 gives us an introduction as to why the Armour of God is even necessary. Ephesians 6:12 refers to the spiritual forces of evil, the King James version refers to “spiritual wickedness in high places.” This passage implies the nature and kind of sins that these evil spirits perpetrate. They are spiritual sins, which by their very nature, are more subtle and far more destructive.

Spiritual wickedness characteristics

The phrase “against spiritual wickedness” implies three doctrinal conclusions:

  1. Devils are spirits.
  2. Devils are totally wicked.
  3. These wicked spirits use spiritual wickedness to persecute Christians and provoke Christians to sin.

The Roman Emperor, Diocletian, was just like many of the other emperors of his time who went on campaigns to kill Christians.

Tertullian, an early Christian theologian, once wrote that there were so many people coming to faith in Jesus during Diocletian’s tenure, that people were being born again faster than Diocletian could kill them off. 

Tertullian recorded that Diocletian took his scepter and threw it down on the ground and gave up the project entirely.

Devil never dispirited

Be assured of this: the devil never becomes dispirited like that. He will not give up…
