It is with a heavy heart that her family announces the passing of Ms. Hilda Green.

Hilda was born on Oct. 3, 1948, to the union of the late Gladys Mae Johnson and Earl Thornton Sr., in Essex County.

She took her journey to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hilda leaves behind a lifetime of rich memories to cherish for her loving daughters, Davelin Forrest (David) of Sandston, Tracy Hancock (Pagie) of Sandston, Stephaney Smith of Fredericksburg, Capece Colon (Julio) of Washington, D.C., Stacy Burrell of Somerset, N.J.; three grandchildren that she thought the world of, Katrina Forrest (Cole), Dr. Tiffanee Brown, Brittany Brown; one great-grandchild that she absolutely treasured, Riyan Brown; five sisters, Virginia “Gin” Harris of Philadelphia, Pa., Earlene Cochran (Leroy) of Philadelphia, Pa., Clementine Henry of Williamsburg, Connie Bagby (Albert) of King and Queen County, Inez Thornton of Richmond; two brothers, Earl Thornton Jr. of Saluda, Frederick Thornton of Urbanna; a soulmate and devoted partner, Kenneth Adams of Franklin Park, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her family will sorely miss Hilda, but she’s in a better place — no more pain, no more suffering; only love with the Heavenly Father.

Due to COVID-19, there will be a private burial for the family only.
