The Urbanna Town Council is divided on what should be done with a narrow strip of land where Virginia Street meets Urbanna Creek. Payne’s Crab House used to shed crabs on this 30-foot-wide parcel that is now vacant.
The question of what the town should do with the narrow strip of land has come up before the town council on a few occasions. The issue is back and may be discussed when council meets tonight, Thursday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m.
In recent years, the majority of council has opposed building a dock. In September 2020, the previous council agreed to put a kayak launch and kiosk.
Now, the proposed pier appears to be gaining momentum, but there is opposition…
