A 20-year-old property line adjustment issue at Canoe House Landing Public Beach on the Rappahannock River and in the Jamaica District should soon be resolved as supervisors agreed this month to move forward with a boundary line and fence maintenance agreement.
The agreement states, “there is an existing fence constructed by the county . . . installed for the purpose of deterring persons using Canoe House Landing from proceeding westwardly along the waterfront of the Rappahannock River onto the (private) property.
“The county at its expense shall construct and maintain the fence on the Canoe House Landing parcel . . .” states the agreement.
Middlesex County has some of the most limited public waterfront access of the waterfront counties in the region. Supervisors have been attempting to purchase waterfront land to provide more public access…
