“Doc” marks 50 years in business

Clarence “Doc” Jones of Hartfield is celebrating his 50th year in business in Middlesex County. He went into business five days before Christmas in 1970 opening Urbanna Esso, which he operated for nine years. However, he’s best known for Doc Jones Used Auto Parts in Hartfield, which by 1981 had become his full-time business.

Jones is a survivor. At 79 years young, he still operates his roll-back tow truck, but has helpers. Jones said he’s been “remanufactured.” He recently had a knee replaced and a hip replaced a few years ago.

He was in a crash last year and had a head injury. In November 2020, doctors discovered he had a blood clot on his brain and he underwent surgery.
