Urbanna getting solar-powered streetlights

Urbanna’s Cross Street is “going green” as new solar street lamps were being installed last week as workers placed pole mounts along the street and one lamp was installed in front of the town hall.

The project is a partnership between the Town of Urbanna and the Urbanna Beautification Committee, also known as UBI, and has been in the works for several years.

The previous Urbanna Town Council approved $12,000 for the purchase of the lights in December 2020, but a change in cost came about when officials and some town residents wanted the lights to be closer to the design of the lights presently on Virginia Street…
