Poker run on river a success

The area’s first poker run on the water, which included an Urbanna stop, was conducted last month and was coordinated by the Northern Neck Rotary Club.

Ten boats entered the July 17 competition. They were captained by Ronald Hudson, Jack Neal, Chip Hudnall, Ramona Darden, Joe Jones, Eric Webb, Duane Russell, Bayside Animal Hospital and Pet Emporium, Chris Felthouse (Primis Bank), and Chris Timberlake (Chesapeake Bank).

A poker run is a game of chance, not a race. Each boat sailed to five marinas and two anchored boats on the Rappahannock River. Participants picked one playing card in a sealed envelope at each checkpoint. From Urbanna to Windmill Point, the boats traveled a three-hour course, returning to the Northern Neck Rotary’s home base at Willaby’s where poker hands were revealed…
