The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) unanimously voted to approve a $230,000 expenditure to replace the 28-year-old cooling units at St. Clare Walker Middle School (SCW). The vote came at the Monday, July 12, regular monthly school board meeting.
School Superintendent Tracy Seitz informed the board that the chiller and portions of compressors at St. Clare Walker were failing and working at 75% capacity. Honeywell, the firm that maintains the units, will pay approximately $30,000 of the replacement cost under their maintenance agreement with the schools.
MCSB agreed to use Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds (approximately $200,000) to cover the remainder….
