Middlesex County and Urbanna are now each part of the Chesapeake Bay Region Cigarette Tax Board and each jurisdiction has levied a 40-cents tax on each pack of 20 cigarettes.
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors made it official on July 6 and the Urbanna Town Council voted to approve the measure on July 8. Urbanna will be separate and receive the tax collected in town, while the county will collect the tax outside of Urbanna’s border.
