Replica of 1700s sloop makes exciting trip through Deltaville

The Deltaville community got a glimpse of Luna this week as the 48-foot sloop moved slowly down main street Deltaville, dodging power lines along the way.

In the hands of Nat and Bubbie Crown at Crown Marine, Luna was trucked from Paces Neck Road in Hardyville to Crown Marine in Deltaville where it is going to be rigged for launching on Broad Creek in the coming months.

Colonial Virginia’s maritime history is being brought to life by the Colonial Seaport Foundation Inc. (CSF) in Deltaville. The organization owns Luna and has been rebuilding and modifying the replica 1768 Virginia sloop for nearly a decade. The foundation plans to use the boat as a floating classroom and….
