Boat parade, fireworks fun return to Urbanna

The public is invited to the annual Urbanna Independence Day-themed celebration on Friday, July 2, at the Urbanna Town Marina and along Urbanna Creek. There will be a boat parade, live music, food and fireworks. The rain date is Monday, July 5.

Starting at 5 p.m. on July 2, Virginia Street from Cross Street to the town marina will be closed to vehicles.

The activities begin at the town marina at 5 p.m. with DJ Kevin Gentry playing music and food will be available from the Middlesex County Volunteer Fire Department.

The annual boat parade begins with participants gathering at the Urbanna bridge at 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. the boats will parade past the town marina and the judges stand. Judges will award prizes for the most patriotic and most creative.

Fireworks will fill the sky at dark to conclude this hometown celebration of America’s birthday.

The town trolley will run until 10 p.m.
