The Middlesex High School tennis team’s number one doubles players, Maddie Green and Virginia Reinhardt, are set to play in the 3:30 p.m. June 10 semifinals of the state championship at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. If they win their match, they will play in the 1 p.m. state championship final the following day, also at Virginia Tech.
Their arrival on the doorstep of capturing a state crown comes after an exciting week of tennis for the duo, as well as for the rest of the Charger girls team. In the May 27 Region A, Class 1, varsity girls tennis doubles semifinals at Mathews, Green and Reinhardt played Rappahannock’s number one doubles team. They won their semifinal match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Green and Reinhardt then moved onto the final, where they played Mathews’ number one doubles team. Green and Reinhardt won their final match in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, becoming the region champion and earning the trip…
