Urbanna may be looking for new town attorney

Council votes suggest changes ahead

by Tom Chillemi –

The Urbanna Town Council appears to be looking for a new town attorney.

After a closed session at the May 13 meeting, Councilor Merri Hanson motioned that the town administrator issue “a request for proposals to procure town attorney services by someone who specializes in municipal law and that such services would be subject to contract annual review and possible renewal.”

There was no discussion and no comments were made. Voting in favor were Marjorie Austin, Larry Chowning, Bill Goldsmith, Steve Hollberg and Merri Hanson. Bill Smith abstained.

Andy Bury has been the town council’s attorney for more than 13 years.
